Lessudden House is a stunning Borders fortified tower house surrounded by rolling countryside, set a few miles from the outstanding Borders market town of Melrose. Re-built after being destroyed by Henry VIII armies in the 16th century it formerly gave its name to the village known since the 19th Century as St Boswells.
Lessudden Cottage is a delightful self-catering holiday cottage, which is attached to the west wing of Lessudden House, and shares part of the garden and grounds with the main house. This charmingly refurbished cottage is delightfully decorated and comfortably furnished: A veritable home from home, it is a perfect launch pad for visits in the historic Border region.
There is plenty for all the family to see and do in the area, with walking, fishing, horse riding, pony trekking, golf, clay pigeon shooting, bird watching and more adventurous things such as canoeing, mountain biking and rock climbing for the brave. There are also many fine historic buildings to visit in the area.
The bright lights of Edinburgh are only about an hours drive away, and offer culture, castles and couture. Or you could just relax, and enjoy the tranquillity of this glorious and historic region.
The cottage sleeps up to four people in great comfort, with a spacious double-bedded master bedroom and a smaller but comfortable twin bedroom next door.
The Bathroom has a bath with a shower. Fully central heated, the cottage has a spacious sitting room with a dining area. You will find a TV with DVD and video facility, open log fire, and a selection of games and books for a pleasant relaxing evening.
The kitchen has everything you need for a fantastic holiday, including an electric cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. You also have direct access to the lovely garden, through the conservatory.
Available all year round, the cottage is booked by the week from Saturday to Saturday, and is non-smoking throughout. Edinburgh International Airport is about an hour’s drive away, Newcastle Airport not much more, and the railway station of Berwick upon Tweed is only 45 minutes away by car, providing an excellent rail service to and from London. The cottage is easily accessible from the South on the A1/M1 in the East, or the M6 on the West via the A68 and other linking roads.
